Alcohol Awareness Week

Sometimes, what starts as an occasional drink can become a regular way of coping with life's challenges or uncomfortable emotions. Alcohol dependency isn't always obvious.

It can look like:

  • Drinking every evening to unwind.

  • Having a glass of wine with dinner every evening.

  • Hiding how much your drink.

  • Feeling anxious without alcohol.

  • Promising to cut back, but struggling to do so.

Alcohol and poor mental health are closely linked.

People may drink to cope with:

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Grief

  • Trauma

  • Loneliness

While alcohol can sometimes offer temporary relief, it often makes emotional difficulties much harder to manage overtime.

Counselling offers a safe place to explore what's behind your drinking by helping you to understand:

  • Your triggers

  • Emotional patterns

  • Healthier coping mechanisms

  • What recovery looks like for you

Whether you're questioning your relationship with alcohol or supporting someone who is,

get in touch below and we can have a confidential chat about how counselling can help.
